Been thinking about becoming a firefighter for a while? Or do you want to find out more about whether it could be the ‘right fit’ for you?

Linking in to our upcoming Full-Time Firefighter recruitment campaign, we're hosting a number of 'Experience Days' and 'Fire Fit' events in June and July which are a great way of helping you make an informed decision before applying.

The purpose of our ‘Experience Day’ events is to raise awareness and encourage members of the community to see if you’ve got what it takes to join our fire and rescue service, while our ‘Fire Fit’ sessions focus on understanding the physical demands of the role and the physical selection criteria.

Experience Days

Come along to one of our Experience Days at a fire station near you.

These are friendly events for those interested in joining our Service to try out different aspects of the job.

Meet some of our staff, including members of the recruitment and training teams and discover more about the types of opportunities available and what we provide to our employees.

You can learn about the different types of firefighter roles as well as about the recruitment and selection process, try on the firefighter kit and get hands on experience of the physical requirements and fitness standards.

You must be aged 18 or over to attend.

Get Fire Fit events

These sessions help to ensure those wanting to join our team are suitably equipped to satisfy the physical selection criteria and thrive in firefighter training.

If you’re interested in a career as a firefighter but are unsure of the physical demands of the role, please follow this link and complete the form with your details.

Booking is essential to attend these events. 

You must be aged 18 or over to attend.

These sessions will include exercise based assessments and training so please ensure you wear appropriate activewear. All attendees will receive a fitness pack to continue their physical development.
