A Bilingual Workforce

As part of our commitment to the Welsh Language,all new members of staff are required to demonstrate Welsh language skills at Level 2 or higher.

The assessment involves a 15 minute verbal test  - assistance is provided beforehand in the form of a self-learning CD and accompanying script, as well as further help and support which is available from our Welsh Language Champions.

The Level 2 standard test (equivalent to Welsh GCSE Second Language) involves translating common phrases and terms from English to Welsh, as well as reading and answering questions through the medium of Welsh. It also requires applicants to provide a brief introduction of themselves in Welsh.

Members of staff are also required to complete a Welsh Awareness Course in house. Take a look at these videos created by Cwmni Iaith on behalf of Colegau Cymru for an insight into the content of a Welsh awareness session:
