Warning following kitchen fire in Rhyl
PostedA family of five were evacuated from a house on Ffynnongroew Road in Rhyl at 9.16am today, Saturday 1st April, when a child turned on the cooker switches, which had items left on it.
Deputy Head of Community Safety Jane Honey said: “Thanks to the smoke alarm the family were alerted to the fire, and evacuated promptly.”
She added: “This highlights the importance of having a working smoke alarm and not to leave combustible items on the hob.”
The fire was out on the arrival of fire crews, but the kitchen was badly damaged by smoke.
The family were all taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd as a precautionary measure, due to smoke inhalation.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service recommend that you test you smoke alarm regularly.
