Firefighters work in partnership with Cartrefi Conwy
PostedFirefighters have been working in partnership with Cartrefi Conwy to ensure their tenants are as safe as possible from fire.
Following on from an agreement which will see all new tenants being referred for a free home fire safety check, firefighters and Cartrefi Conwy staff cemented their partnership by spending the day at Llanfair TH talking to residents about fire safety.
As well as North Wales Fire and Rescue Service Staff checking smoke alarms and giving advice, the Cartrefi Conwy staff attended the event with Catrin their Community mobile office and were able to touch base with their clients and discuss any issues arising from the fire safety check.
Tom Pye, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service's Partnership Manger for Conwy and Denbighshire, said: "This visit to Llanfair TH has been an excellent way to cement our relationship and ensure all Cartrefi Conwy residents are as safe as possible from fire - all new residents are automatically registered for a free home fire safety check, and by targeting specific areas like this we are hoping to ensure that both long term and new residents are informed about fire safety.
"The support of organisations such as Cartrefi Conwy is invaluable to us - we need our lifesaving messages to really get through to our communities and they are vital in this work.
"We have had a number of rural fires in recent months and so decided to start our 'roadshow' of visits at Llanfair TH - residents living in rural areas need to be especially aware of fire safety as water and access can cause problems.
"We look forward to continuing this work with Cartrefi Conwy to ensure residents across the region are kept as safe as possible from fire in their homes."
The organisations are hoping to team up again for a number of similar visits over coming months.
Will Prichard, Health and Safety Advisor at Cartrefi Conwy, added:
"Today endorses the signing of the memorandum of agreement between ourselves and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and we're proud to be working in partnership with them to help protect our residents.
"The health and safety of our tenants is our number one priority and this proactive approach to fire safety in the home demonstrates our commitment to this."
